"Secondhand People" is an album about redemption. These are, in my mind, the most important songs I've ever written, as they deal with the things that get in the way of our relationship with Christ. I truly believe that Christ's love is able to overcome all of these distractions and barriers... I hope that's the message that will come through this music.

Julie's a waitress at a diner downtown,
But she's got a secret she's carrying around.
She's just 21 and she's out on her own.
No boy in the picture and she's three months along.
She needs somebody to tell her they care,
To prove she's not really alone.

Jimmy's a lawyer, the best one around.
He works in an office high above the ground.
But Jimmy's got a secret that he holds inside.
The doctor's found something and he's short on time.

To tell him that he's not alone.
